Mrs. Grace Evelyn Baker Abshier, of 200 E. Oakwood, died Tuesday in a local hospital. Born in Huntsville, the daughter of Henry L. and Annie Jones Baker, she was a Presbyterian and the widow of Irby Abshier.

Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. James Greer of Fayetteville and Mrs. Ad Rife of Houston, Tex.; three nephew's and two nieces.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Watson Mortuary with burial in Fairview Memorial Gardens.

Irby Abshier Dies At Home Friday

Thomas Irby Abshier, 81, prominent Fayetteville businessman, died at his home 200 E. Oakwood, yesterday afternoon. Mr. Abshier held the Ford dealership here for many years and was a member of the Board of Directors of the First National Bank.

He was born Nov. 27, 1882 at Moffitt in Washington County, the son of Thomas J. and Mary Ferguson Abshier. He was married to the former Grace Baker Dec. 31, 1912.

He was chairman of Washington General Hospital Board of Trustees, a member of the First United Presbyterian Church and the Fayetteville Lions Club and had been active in the Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors in addition to the widow of the home included three brothers, Mac and Ray Abshier, both of Whittier, Calif. and Vol of Collinga, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Watson Mortuary with burial in Fairview Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the General Hospital Board, directors of the First National Bank and elders of the
First United Presbyterian Church.

Memorials may be sent to the University of Arkansas Research Center.
