Mrs. Bertie Ballard died at her home at Violet Hill Tuesday after a brief illness. Mrs. Ballard was about 86 years old.

In Memory of Bertie Ballard
The following lines are lovingly and tenderly dedicated to the memory of Bertie Ballard wife of George Ballard and daughter of H. and Florence Gaston.
She was loved by all who knew her. By children because of her gentleness and kindness by elderly people and the middle aged because of pleasant good humored nature toward them.
She was sick for three long months and all that loving hands could do was done for her, but August 5, 1919, early in the forenoon we realized that the white winged angels were hovering around the bed and there came a whole convey of angels at 6 o'clock p.m. and gathered so near with their glittering wings that she only had to open her eyes and raise her arms, which she did and was gathered into the celestial city.
We stood and watched her enter the very angels of heaven as it were and could almost see the convoy of angels as she and they swept through the pearly gates. Perhaps this convoy was composed of those who had preceded her to whom she had tenderly ministered to while they were in the flesh.
We feel like it must have been Lou, Ruby, Rhea and Rosetta who came to attend her happy flight. Let's not grieve for Bertie for she is only asleep in Jesus.
We only ask of her heartbroken parents and her two brothers, Walter and Lone, that they make ready to meet her. By a cousin.
