HENSLEY, Minnie - The Highfill community was shocked last Thursday when they learned that Miss Minnie Hensley had taken her own life by jumping into a well near the house. The body was found after an extensive search late Wednesday afternoon, April 1st. It is stated that her mind had been unbalanced at times. Miss Hensley was about 41 years of age and lived with her sister, Miss Hensley. She was the daughter of Baxter Hensley who at one time conducted a store at Healing Springs. Miss Hensley is survived by her sisters, Miss Iva, and Mrs. Charles Morris and by three brothers, John and Mike Hensley of Highfill and James Hensley of Healing Springs.

The body of Miss Minnie Hensley, 41 years old, of the Highfill neighborhood, was found in a deep well at Highfill late last Wednesday afternoon after she had been missing from her home for more than twenty-four hours. When she left the home of her brother Tuesday afternoon it was supposed she had gone to the home of other relatives as had been her custom and but little attention was paid to her absence but when it was ascertained on Wednesday that she had not spent the intervening time in another home a search was instituted. A citizen of that section, who had been in the habit of watering a team of mules at this certain well, noticed on Wednesday that the water appeared muddy and that the mules refused to drink. Thinking this a little peculiar he made the fact known and it was decided to drop a hook in the water to ascertain if the body of the woman could be there. In this manner the body was located and soon raised to the surface. It was evident that the woman had urposely jumped into the well but no reason is given for the rash act. Carpenter's ambulance was called, the body brought to Gentry late Wednesday evening, prepared for burial and funeral services were held Thursday with interment in Temperance Hill cemetery south of Vaughn. The deceased is survived by three brothers, Mike, John and Jim Hensley, of that section, and two sisters, Miss Iva of the home address and Mrs. Chas. Morris. The coroner of Benton county held that no inquest was necessary as it was plainly a case of suicide.
