Ocial A. Dick Jeffrey, 84, of Desha died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at a Batesville nursing home. Born March 26, 1917, in Jamestown, he was the son of Charlie and Cora Icy Alexander Jeffrey. He was a retired contractor for highway construction and a member of Desha United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Virginia Croak and husband, Floyd, of Desha; a sister, Marie James of Desha; two grandchildren, Nancy Croak Comer and husband, Malcom, of Sundown, Texas, and Tammy Croak-Wilson and husband, Brian, of Newport News, Va.; and a great-grandchild, Kavin Comer of Sundown. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Derotha Willene Jeffrey; seven brothers, Sherman Jeffrey, Stonie Jeffrey, Bill Jeffrey, Elmer Jeffrey, Doyle Jeffrey, Charles Jeffrey and Wilbur Jeffrey; and a sister, Nobia Lee Bufford.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home Chapel in Batesville with the Rev. Jim Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Alderbrook Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lavaughn Coles, Kevin Coles, Keith Harmon, Jay Slayden, Brian Jeffrey and Randy Nash.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joel Massey and Clifford Craig.
Memorial may be made to a charity of choice or the American Cancer Society.
His parents are buied in Mount Zion Cemetery in Banner, Cleburne County, Arkansas
