Marie James, 103, of Batesville died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010, in a Batesville nursing home. Born June 1, 1907, in Jamestown, she was the daughter of Charlie and Cora Alexander Jeffrey. She was of the Methodist faith. Survivors include many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Donald Franklin James; eight brothers, Sherman Jeffrey, Stonie Jeffrey, Bill Jeffrey, Buck Jeffrey, Charles Jeffrey, Wilmer Jeffrey, Doyle Jeffrey and Ocial Jeffrey; and a sister, Nobia Lee Bufford. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Willis Funeral Service with James Wheeler and Steve Long officiating. Burial will be in Alderbrook Cemetery in Desha. Pallbearers will be Kevin Coles, Keith Harmon, Gordon Harmon, Jay Slayden, Freddie Bufford and Buddy Carlile. Honorary pallbearers are Shorty Coles, Bill Pierce, W.B. Carlile, Zack James and Nate James.
