Melbourne Times, Melbourne, Arkansas, December 4, 1947:

Mrs. Josie Victoria Baker, age 67, died at her home at Ash Flat Wednesday of last week. She was born and reared in the vicinity of Violet Hill.

She is survived by her husband, Austin Baker; a son Luther Riggs of Bakersfield, Calif., a daughter, Mrs. Thelma Carter of Ash Flat and is step-daughter of Mrs. Ralph Hall of Hardy.

Funeral services were held at the Ash Flat Methodist Church by Rev. Short of Evening Shade and burial was at the Violet Hill Cemetery Friday.
