This is one of five very old home crafted markers that are in a row with only the inscription "Sloans." Based upon the age of the markers it is rather apparent that the gravestones are marking graves, not reserving a space for future use.
It would appear that the gravestones represent either one of two circumstances. One would be that years after the burials some family members remembered that one of their ancestors was buried there, but they were unsure of the first name or dates so they only inserted the last name when they made the markers. The other probability is that the five graves are those of five un-named Sloans infants.
