FINK, R.J. - After an illness extending over a period of several months, R.J. Fink died Monday afternoon at half past two o'clock at his home a short distance north of Springdale. Mr. Fink was first taken sick last fall and a greater portion of the time since then has been confined to his bed. About thirdly days ago he was operated upon for gall stones and fears were entertained at the time that he would not survive the operation but he came through nicely and improved right along until several days ago. The immediate cause of his death was kidney disease. The remains were interred at Friendship Tuesday afternoon, services being conducted by Rev. Smith, Pastor of the First Baptist Church. The burial was under the auspices of the G.A.R. post of which deceased was a member. Mr. Fink was 72 years of age and was a native of East Tennessee. He came here fro Kansas in 1878, having gone to the latter state from Tennessee but not liking it there after a short time came on to Arkansas where he has since resided. He was the father of a number of children, seven of whom are living, four sons and three daughter. The sons are T.A., S.A., J.J. and J.E. the tree last named being residents of this community. The whereabouts of the firs named is unknown. During the gold craze in the Klondike county he made one trip up there, returned safely, and the last heard from him he was making preparation to take another trip. Whether he ever reached there safely or not his relatives do not know. Of the daughters two are in California and one in East Tennessee. Mr. Fink lost his wife in January 1892 and was married again in the winter of 1893, the latter surviving him. Mr. Fink was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a good citizen, esteemed and respected by all.
