Eula Mealer Sledge, 98, of Morrilton, passed away Monday, May 14, 2007.
She was born at Cleveland, Ark., on Jan. 20, 1909, to Ervin L. and Caroline (Johnson) Mealer. In November 1927 she married Carlos R. Sledge and they were married for 62 years until his death in February 1990.
She was a faithful member of the Downtown Church of Christ in Morrilton until she moved to a retirement home in Little Rock several years ago because of failing health.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Southern Christian Home or the Downtown Church of Christ.
Survivors are her children, Carlene (Thomas) Guthier of Statesville, N.C., Norma Glover of Pine Bluff, David (Pauline) Sledge of Little Rock, and Bobby Sledge of Sonora, Calif.; grandchildren, Timothy Guthier of Cortland, N.Y., Karen Burkeen of Yadkinville, N.C., Vicki Warren of Cabot, Ark., Janet (Kenneth) Sutterfield of Maumelle, Ark., Philip (Michele) Glover of Little Rock, and Robert (Jennifer) Sledge of Sonora, Calif., 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren, plus several nieces and cousins and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers and sisters, (William, Ivan, Ray and Vernon Mealer, Ruby Keller Lackey and Doris Culver), as well as her son-in-law, Kenneth Glover, daughter-in-law, Ida Ceretto Sledge, grandson, Clayton Warren, and grandson-in-law, E.E. “Bo” Warren.
Funeral services were 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at the Harris Chapel with Mr. Randy Rankin officiating. Burial was at Elmwood Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Pallbearers were Phillip Glover, Kenneth Sutterfield, Ragan Sutterfield, Spencer Sutterfield, Ray Ellis and Pete Newman.
