Motorcycle-Truck Crash Fatal To Teenager At Bentonville

BENTONVILLE -- A Bentonville teenager died Friday night from injuries he received when his motorcycle struck a parked semi-trailer truck a short distance from his home.

A Bates Memorial Hospital spokesman said that Michael Eugene Adamson, 16, of 709 Northwest A died shortly after midnight of head injuries he received in the crash.

His 69-year-old grandmother, Mrs. Cora Elizabeth Strate, also of Bentonville died of an apparent heart attack early this morning after she was notified of her grandson's death.

Officer Calvin Dillow, Bentonville police officer who investigated the crash, said young Adamson was traveling north on Northwest A Street just before midnight when his cycle rammed the rear of the parked truck.

He was taken in a Burns Funeral Home ambulance to Bates Hospital where he died a short time later.

Mrs Strate died at 7:50 this morning in her daughter's home.

Michael, a Bentonville High School student, was the son of Clarence and Dottie Strate Adamson. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Bentonville and spent most of his life in Bentonville.

Survivors in addition to the parents include a sister, Sharon Kaye of the home, and several uncles and aunts.

Mrs. Strate was born Dec. 10, 1895 at Jacket, Mo. She spent most of her life in Bentonville and was also a member of the Church of Christ.

Surviving Mrs. Strate are two sons, Ray and Ralph both of Bentonville; four daughters, Mrs. Frances Prophet, Mrs. Mandy Green, Mrs. Thurman Deay and Mrs. Adamson, all of Bentonville; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Young of Rogers, and Mrs. Vina Gass of Marissa, Ill., two brothers, Edgar Bolain of Bentonville and Johnny Bolain of Wichita, Kan., nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

A double funeral service has been scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Monday in the Church of Christ at Bentonville.
