Son of Vernon Eugene and Hazel Ione Parnell Cox.

Billy Ray Cox was born in Mtn. Home, AR, August 7, 1950 to the late Vernon E and Hazel Parnell Cox. He graduated high school in Mtn. home in 1968, went on to serve 4 years in the U.S. Navy, serving aboard USS Grant County and USS Spiegel Grove, both out of Norfolk, Virginia and was a Vietnam-Era Vet.

He retired from Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma City, OK in 2003 with 26 years federal service. He retired ASA WG-9 journeyman protective coating specialist.

His last job was at Wal-mart as a people greeter in the Garden Center, a job he really enjoyed and made many friends with associates and customers. He was a member of Norfork Church of Christ.

He was proceeded in death by his father, Vernon Eugene Cox, his mother, Hazel lone Parnell Cox, also his grandparents, George and Onna Cox and Earl & Lucy Parnell. In addition, a double cousin, Jerry Cox and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is survived by two sons, William Travis Cox of Mtn. Home. and Zachariah Patrick Cox and his wife Brandy Cox of Moore, Oklahoma. Two granddaughters Erica Cheyenne Cox of Mtn. Home and Lundyn Olivia Cox of Moore, OK. One grandson, Creed Jaxon Cox of Moore, Oklahoma. One aunt, Elsie Douglas of Mtn. Home and Two uncles: Tom Parnell of Calico Rock, AR, and Robert Brown of Kansas City, MO; numerous cousins. Former wife Patricia Cox of Blanchard, OK.

A special thanks to his Norfork Church of Christ family. Also to Dale Cox and Kay Watts for all the help they have provided over the years. Also, the family extends a special salute and thanks to Dr. Lori Cheney and nurse Jodi. Billy believed as we do that Dr. Lori saved his life on several occasions. Thank you Dr. Lori and God Bless you.

Visitation will be from 10-11 AM Saturday, September 19 at Norfork Church of Christ.. Funeral services, conducted by Brother Jim Windland, will be held 11 AM Saturday, September 19 at Norfork Church of Christ. Interment will follow in Galatia Cemetery.
