Scott Howard Elder, Sr. age 86, of Benton passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at John L. McClellan Veteran's Memorial Hospital in Little Rock. He was born on March 23, 1924, in Bald Knob to the late Robert and Eliza Brown Elder. Mr. Elder was a life member of DAV-American Legion and a veteran of the United States Air Force during World War II. He was of Baptist Faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and two grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Jean Boggs Elder; three sons, Scott Howard Elder, Jr., of Benton, Floyd Ray Elder and wife Jennie of Benton, and Gerald Wayne Elder and wife Cheirl of Benton; six daughters, Linda Ann Perkins and husband, W. R. Willie of Bryant, Margaret E. Buffington and husband James of Benton, Betty Barger and husband Tommy of Benton, Carolyn Robson of Little Rock, Marie Darlene Freeman of Little Rock, and Geraldine Krippendorf and husband Wayne of Benton; three step-sons, Jerry Wintford Baker and wife Heather of California, Gary Baker and wife Kathy of Benton, and Tommy Baker and wife Della of Benton; one step-daughter, Carol Ann Baker of Benton; seventeen grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home in Benton (501-315-4047) with Bro. Cecil Hyde and Bro. Wayne Smith officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Jeffcoat, Elijah Elder, Cody Rossell, Caleb Holland, Jody Baker, Garrett Baker, David Burris, and Pete Roberts. Interment with military honors will follow at New Rosemont Memorial Park in Benton. (from Roller-Ballard Funeral Home online obituary)
