Excerpts from The Baxter Bulletin, Mountain Home, Arkansas:
July 2, 1920, Issue--Died: James Powell of Independence, died June 20, burial in Pilgrim Rest Cemetery.
July 16, 1920, Issue--Memorium: J. E. Powell, born April 3, 1862, DeKalb County, Alabama. He died June 20. He came to Baxter County in 1872. He married Elizabeth Edney January 20, 1884. They had six boys and three girls all are living except one girl. His wife and children survive. Burial was in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery. He was a Mason for 19 years.
