SPRINGDALE -- James Robert "J.R." Haley, 83, of Springdale died Oct. 12, 2008, at Washington Regional Medical Center. He was born Aug. 14, 1925, in Yale, Okla., to James Isaac and Lillie Taylor Haley.
He was a World War II Army-Air Force veteran and was a member of Elmdale Baptist Church since 1961. He was founder of Shiloh Tank & Erection Co. in Springdale in 1969 and later founded Shiloh Steel Fabricators Inc. in 1977. He was past member and president of the Springdale Lions Club and was a Mason and Shriner. He was a licensed pilot, as well as held a general class amateur radio license. He enjoyed making knives and traveling with his wife and friends. J.R. was a respected businessman in our community.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Wyndee Diane Haley and his brother, Loye Haley.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Frick Haley of the home, to whom he was married Jan. 20, 1946, in Yale; three sons, Ron Haley and wife Jaylon, Chuck Haley and wife Janet and Jim Haley and wife Tracy, all of Springdale; four brothers, Wade Haley of Ripley, Okla., Hurshel Haley of Magnolia, Texas, Glen Haley of Rogers and Leon Haley of Stillwater, Okla.; two sisters, Maralee Dennis of Yale and Marietta Stoops of Ponca City, Okla.; eight grandchildren, Chris Haley, Damon Bivens, John Haley, Summer Vaughn, Aireal Haley, Oliver Haley, Braden Haley and Kalyon Haley.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at Sisco Chapel in Springdale, online at www.siscofuneral.com.
The Rev. Tom Shaw will officiate. Burial will be in Bluff Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
