Double stone with Carolyn Austin Smith
*Dr. Bedford W. Smith of West Memphis died Wednesday in West Memphis.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Roller-Citizens Chapel with burial following in Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion. Dr. Smith, 81, a doctor in West Memphis for 40 years and at East Arkansas Health Center in Lepanto, was a member of West Memphis First United Methodist Church and a World War II Army veteran. He leaves his wife, Carolyn Austin Smith; two daughters, Chantal McPherson of West Memphis and Francoise Baggett of Atlanta, Ga.; three sons, Bedford Smith Jr. of Bartlett, Tenn., and Gary Smith and Barry Nix Jr., both of Marion; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The family requests that memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society or the Dr. Ralph Hamilton Scholarship Fund. Evening Times.
