James Rudolph Marler, 85, of Monkey Run

Services for 85-yuear-old James Rudolph Marler of Monkey Run will be at 2 p.m. today at Roller Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gene Carson officiating. Mr. Marler died Tuesday (Sept. 12, 2000) at Baxter Regional Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 12, 1914, in Baxter County to B. F. and Nora Ann Bagwell Marler. He married the former Fannie Hopper on July 25, 1938, in Gassville. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II. Mr. Marler was a lifelong area resident and a retired carpenter and farmer. He enjoyed gardening and his family. He was a member of Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Fannie Marler, of the home; three sons, J. C. Marler and wife, Toni, of Gassville and Danny Marler and Rodger Marler and wife, JoAnn, all of Monkey Run; two daughters, Wanda Newcomb and husband, Carl Lee, and Barbara Adams and husband, Jim, all of Monkey Run; a sister, Erma Alexander of Strafford, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Marler was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Nina Lamb; one son, Lonnie Marler, one daughter, Nona Lee, and three grandchildren.

Burial will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Monkey Run.

Arrangements are by Roller Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Darrell Pace, Allen Franks, Bill Hickman, Junior Treat, Wayne Rolston and Bobby Carson. Honorary pallbearers will be Odell Hopper, Opal Smith and Harvey Smith.

Burial will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Monkey Run.

Arrangements are by Roller Funeral Home.
