Johnny S. Megee

Johnny S. Megee, 68, of Route 1, Gassville, a lifetime resident of Baxter County and a retired carpenter, died last Friday at a hospital here.

He was born Feb. 9, 1901, the son of A. B. and Victoria Gray Megee. He was married to Edna L. Gardner on Dec. 4, 1921, and was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Edna Megee, of the home; two sons, Leo Megee of Branson, Mo., and Leonard Megee of LaGrange, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. Betty Jo Sallee of Gassville; four brothers, Eldon and Harvey Megee of Wichita, Kans., Henry Megee of Laport, Tex., and Jim Megee of Ada, Okla.; three sisters, Mrs. Martha Franks of Ada, Okla., Mrs. Bell Messick, and Mrs. Nellie Crownover of Gassville; eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at McClure Chapel by Rev. Joe Skaggs and Rev. Otha McCracken. Interment was in the Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Neil Dilbeck, Joe Stancil, Clinton Stancil, Lloyd Stancil, Harvey Smith and Rudell Pannell. Honorary pallbearers were Miles Lonon, Miles Anglin, Harvey Dilbeck, Edgar Head, Alfred Pruitt, Rex Reed and Rex Dilbeck. The McClure Service was in charge of arrangements.
