Davette L. Whitney, 59, of Conway, passed away on Wed. Sept. 8, 2010. Born in Kinloch, Mo., he was a son to the late Arthur Lee and Ollie (Dagger) Whitney. Davette was a semi truck owner operator and was a non denominational highway minister. Davette was an Army veteran having served in Germany during the Viet Nam era.
He was preceded in death by his previously mentioned parents; step father Andrew Earl White; brothers: Eddie James Harris, Alonzo Noshao, and Joe Louis Harris; one sister Glenda Marie McKinney and a granddaughter Gabrielle Whitney.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years Pamela (Stiles) Whitney;son Davette L. Whitney, Jr. of Olaithe, KS, daughters: Jennifer Ellis and husband Kevin, Ashley Whitney and Leah Whitney all of Conway. Also surviving are his sisters LeVada A. Sales of Conway, Elizabeth Whitney, Wilma (Donna) Martin and Augusta Mathis all of St. Louis, three step sisters; three step brothers and a host of extended family and friends.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sat. Sept. 11, at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Conway with Rev. Ervin Bledsoe officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Robinson Cemetery with Davette Whitney, Jr., Kevin Ellis, Destry Franks, Damien Franks, Jerome Mills and Johnathan Rogers serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Fri. at the funeral home.
