LEWALLEN, James - On the 18th of Feb. 1900 James Lewallen, late private Co. K, 1st Ark. Inf. Vol., died at Springdale, Ark. He enlisted in the U. S. Army on the 10th day of March, 1863 at Fayetteville, Ark. in the above named regiment and company. He was a member of R.B. Hayes Post, No. 10., G.A.R. He was a member of the Baptist Church and had lived a faithful member and christian life for nearly forty years. He was considered an honest man by all who knew him. He loved his government in which he lived, he was loyal to it. In the death of Comrade Lewallen the Grand Army Post at Springdale lost a loving companion and a true friend. In the death of James Lewallen his family lost a loving husband and kind father. In his death the country lost a good and honest citizen. Jas. Baxter, J.D. Allbaugh, A.L. Thompson.
