Melbourne Times, Melbourne, Arkansas, August 2, 1956:

Violet Hill Woman Passes Away

Dolores Augustine McNairn daughter of the late Newt and Nancy McNairn, life-long resident of Izard County was born October 14, 1883 at Violet Hill, Ark., and died at the Izard County Memorial hospital July 26, 1956 after suffering a stroke 8 days before. She was 73 years, 9 months and 11 days old at the time of her death.

She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mary Miller with whom she made her home, Miss Francis McNairn of Little Rock, two brothers, Gordon of Marriston, Ark., and Zeff of Wiseman, Ark., four nieces and four nephews, besides a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held July 27 at the Baptist Church at Violet Hill at 2 p.m. Rev. Hugh Cooper of Melbourne officiating.

Pallbearers were Clarence Jeffery, Walter and Billy Blevins, Fred Parish, Earl Burns, and Howard Mullins. Burial was in Violet Hill Cemetery under direction of the Hall Funeral Home.

(Note: The surname is spelled McNarin on the gravestone, but it appears that the "A" and the "R" are transposed. The obituary has the name spelled McNairn as does the other similar named people including her parents that are buried in the Violet Hill Cemetery.)
