Dayton W. Lierley, Jr., 82, of Conway passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2007. He was born in Gilman City, MO on April 10, 1925. His parents Dayton W. and Dalpha ( Griffin ) Lierley and a brother David, preceded him in death.

Dayton is survived by his wife of 52 years, Martha (Brooks) Lierley; a daughter Jennifer Harrison of Springfield, MO; a son Dayton G. and wife Gaye of Danville, CA.; five grandchildren and a sister Marjorie Alama.

Dayton retired from the U.S. Army as a Lt. Col. in 1970, after serving his country for 22 years. He was a veteran of WWII and Vietnam. He received his B.S. in Science from the University of Maryland, and a Master's and Doctorate in Education from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Dayton was the director of the Henderson State University Learning Center in DeQueen, AR. and Austin Peay State University at Ft. Campbell, KY. He also taught at Capitol City Jr. College in Little Rock.

Dayton was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Conway, where he served as an elder and Sunday school teacher.

A memorial service, under the direction of Roller McNutt Funeral Home, will be held at 2:00 pm, on Friday, October 12, at First Presbyterian Church in Conway. The interment service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, at Shady Grove Cemetery in Springdale, AR. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church building fund at 2400 Prince Street, Conway, AR 72034. On line guest book: www.rollerfuneralhomes.com
