Everett F. Wheeler, age 91, of Mountain Home, died Sunday, April 25, 2004. He was born April 24, 1913, in Erie, Kansas, to Sion Riley and Effie Bicking Wheeler. On March 16, 1941, he married Josie Virginia Reed in Parsons, Kansas, and moved to Mountain Home in 1948 from Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Having served for over three years in the Civilian Conservation Corps, he then attended Parsons, Kansas Business University. Mr. Wheeler was a World War II U. S. Army Veteran serving in the 250th. Field Artillery Battalion and was in combat in France, Germany and Austria. Among his decorations were five battle stars and the Presidential Unit Citation. He was the National Coordinator for the 250th. Field Artillery Battalion Group since 1980. He retired as an administrator with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and served at Bull Shoals and Norfork Dams, retiring in 1975.
Mr. Wheeler served as Secretary for the White River Baptist Association for 35 years; as treasurer of First Baptist Church for almost 40 years; and was a deacon since 1953.
Survivors are his wife: Virginia Wheeler: of the home; 2 daughters: Janice Kay (John) Harris and Carol Jo (John) Boogaart: all of Mountain Home; 2 sisters: Beulah Roberts: Ness City, Kansas, and Lucile Yarnell: Erie, Kansas; 4 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers.

Mrs. Virginia Wheeler, age 94 of Mountain Home passed away Thursday, May 20, 2010 at her home. She was born July 26, 1915 in Exeter, MO to John and Jewel Ellis Reed. She married Everett Wheeler on March 16, 1941 in Parsons, Kansas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Wheeler is survived by 2 daughters: Janice (John) Harris and Carol (John) Boogaart, both of Mountain Home. 4 grandchildren: Kayren (Robert) Cross, Jennifer (Richard) Rogers, Michelle Sherry and Jeff (Jennifer) Boogaart and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister and 2 brothers.
