Obituary For Eva Verdna Yancey Estes:
Eva Verdna Yancey Estes, daughter of the late Elbert Yancey and Mary Catherine Simmons Yancey, was born October 17, 1921, in Oxford. She died April 7, 2002, at Pioneer Nursing Home in Melbourne. She was 80.
During her working years she was employed at Pioneer Nursing Home and was a member of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by one daughter, Marlene Burgess of Violet Hill; one brother Marvin Yancey of Yakima, Washington; one sister, Cornelia Shoemaker of Melbourne; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Vinos Dillard and Ray Estes; her parents; two brothers; and one sister.
Funeral services were held April 10, 2002, at Roller Chapel with Alvin Wiles officiating. Pallbearers were Billy Yancey, Haskell Morehead, Darrell Owens, Jimmy Owens, Ronnie Yancey, and Eric Burgess.
Interment was at Violet Hill Cemetery in Violet Hill under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Melbourne.
