Ray 0. Hughes, 77, Rt. 6, Fayetteville, died Aug. 26 in Springdale Memorial Hospital. Born June 27, 1898, at Johnson, he was the son of Oscar and Mary Jane Maxey Hughes, a member of the Baptist Church and a lifetime resident of the area. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Gladys Greathouse Hughes of the home; one son, Charles R. Hughes, Rogers; two daughters, Mrs. Lynn (Ina Mae) Luper, Fayetteville, and Mrs. Elizabeth Luper, Springdale; his mother of Fayetteville; one brother, Roy W. Hughes, Springdale; two sisters, Mrs. Ada Harris, Springdale, and Mrs. Ina Thompson, Lincoln; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in Sisco Chapel. Burial will be in Stuckey Cemetery, Johnson, under the direction of Sisco.
