Dr. Donald S. Dixon, DDS, 82, of Benton went to be with our Lord Wednesday, September 21, 2005. He was born February 2, 1923 to the late George and Nellie Dixon of Clark County. Dr. Dixon was a precious, dedicated, fun loving husband, father, grandfather, and a special friend to many. He was a graduate of Arkadelphia High School. He served in the Air Force in WW II going on to dental school at Loyola University in New Orleans. He practiced dentistry for 46 years in Benton. He is survived by his wife of 61 ½ years, Evelyn Dixon of Benton; children, Donna Cornett and her husband Leon, Dr. Jerry Dixon and his wife Janet, Elaine Rasburry and her husband Steve, and Toogie Walker all of Benton; 10 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brothers, Dewey Dixon of Gurdon and Grady Dixon of Camden and sisters, Mary Harris of Hot Springs and Betty Jones of Benton.
He was a member of the American, Arkansas, and Saline County Dental Associations, WW II Veteran, member and deacon of the First Baptist Church, long time member of the Benton Chamber of Commerce and past chamber president, received Citizen of the Year 2000, member of the Gideon's, long time member of Civitans and past president, served on the State Contractors Licensing Board, member of the Parks and Recreation Board, and member of the Salvation Army.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 24, 2005 at First Baptist Church in Benton with Dr. Rick Grant and Reverend David Mason officiating. Burial will follow in New Rosemont Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, September 23, 2005 at the worship center of First Baptist Church. Pallbearers are his grandchildren. Honorary Pallbearers are members of Ben-Ark Travelers, Ushers Sunday School Class, and Benton Civitans.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, Benton Civitans, or Saline Memorial Hospice.
