Jacquetta “Jackie” Norcross, age 83, of Mountain Home, passed away Monday, February, 14, 2005, at her home following a long illness.
She was born March 24, 1921, in Hollister, Oklahoma, to Joseph Carr and Mary Abigial Mapp Rich. She married Gordon Joe Norcross on June 15, 1945, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
After receiving her B. A. Degree in education, she taught English in Oklahoma City and Ft. Smith, Arkansas until moving to Mountain Home, Arkansas in 1975. She and her husband returned to Ft. Smith, and also lived in Springfield, Missouri, before retiring to Mountain Home in 1994.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, was an avid Bridge Player, loved to read, and loved her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters and two brothers. Mrs. Norcross is survived by her husband of sixty years: Joe “Lil Joe” Norcross; two sons: Randy Rich (Susan) Norcross and Joe Mitchell (Kathy) Norcross: all of Mountain Home; four grandchildren: Rich (Dora) Norcross, Matthew (Kara) Norcross, Katie Norcross (Chris) Elkins: all of Mountain Home; and Abby Norcross: Springfield, Missouri; four great-grandchildren: Annie Grace Norcross, Thea Norcross, Ada Norcross, Bennett Elkins, and several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be in Baxter Memorial Gardens with Dr. Russell Moore officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of the Ozarks, 701 Burnett Drive, Mountain Home, Arkansas 72653, or First United Methodist Church, 605 West Sixth Street, Mountain Home, Arkansas 72653. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to Mrs. Norcross’s special caregivers: Lucille Martin, Barbara Martin, Barbara Rumpot and Donna Lee. Roller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
