Dorothy McCrystal Ferguson, age 92 of Mountain Home passed away Friday, July 20, 2007 in Mountain Home. She was born August 31, 1914 in Des Moines, Iowa to the late Theron and Margaret Ann (Foster) McCrystal. She was the youngest of five daughters and one son. When she was young the family moved to a small town in Northern Minnesota.
Mrs. Ferguson graduated from Moorhead State Teachers College in Minnesota and was employed by the government office under the Agricultural Department in Hallack, Minnesota.
Mrs. Ferguson married David Wilke Ferguson June 21, 1938 in a Methodist church in Humbolt, Illinois. Four sons including triplets, were born to this union. The family resided in a suburb of Chicago, where her husband David was employed. She was very active in scouts, PTA and teaching Sunday School. She was president for two years for the Chicago Chapter of “Mothers of Triplets Club” a national organization. She wrote a book entitled “Our Triplets” for which the proceeds went to college scholarships for athletes at Proviso East High School, in memory of her son John “Jack” Ferguson, who was a teacher and coach at the High School.
In 1984 along with her husband David, they retired in Mountain Home. She was very interested in antiques, interior decorating and real estate. She had a wonderful philosophy, “Live one day at a time, and make it a masterpiece. If it was a cloudy, depressing day, she would say “ Don’t worry, we will make our own sunshine”. Her life was rich in experiences, full and wonderful. She reached her life goals with the help of her husband David, her best friend and the love of her life for 65 years.
Mrs. Ferguson was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband David, her loving sons: John Spencer Ferguson and Bradley David Ferguson, one brother: Burdett McCrystal and four sisters: Beulah Merray, Verta Johnson, Velma Isley and Estelle Fredrick.
Mrs. Ferguson leaves to mourn, two sons: Dr. Douglas Ferguson of Scottsdale, Arizona and Robert Ferguson and wife Connie of Naperville, Illinois, eight grandchildren: Brian Ferguson and wife Julie and Daniel Ferguson and wife Elizabeth of Mountain Home, Darren Ferguson of Huntley, Illinois, Ryan Ferguson and wife Lindsay of Aurora, Illinois, Kelly Page and husband Bryan of Oswego, Illinois, Heidi Garrett and husband Jay of Tucson, Arizona, Heather Robinson of Phoenix, Arizona and Brent Ferguson of Tampa, Florida, eleven great-grandchildren, six nieces and one nephew.
Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 2, 2007 at the Roller Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in the Baxter Memorial Gardens.
