Richard H. Belter, age 86, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, died Sunday, December 27, 2009, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri.

He was born November 23, 1923, in Pine Lawn, Missouri, to William Rudolph and Bernadette Catherine Bosch Belter. On September 2, 1946, he married Olive Ruth Moore in Omaha, Nebraska. Mr. Belter was a retired pilot with the rank of Major in the U.S. Air Force having flown a B-24 in World War II. He also served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After his retirement from the Air Force, he had a second career with the U. S. Civil Service where he served as a program manager. A member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, he was also a member of the Fisherman Council Knights of Columbus, Alley-White American Legion Post #52 and had served in its honor guard, and Ozark V.F.W. Post #3246.

Survivors are his wife: Olive R. Belter: of the home; six children: Richard Belter: Marietta, Georgia, Patricia Curtis: Hampton, Virginia, Ronald (Athena Du Pre): Pensacola, Florida, Bruce (Helen) Belter: Independence, Missouri, Lynn (Gene) Hillebrand: Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and Paul (Karen) Belter: O’Fallon, Illinois; four brothers: David (Marie) Belter and Walter (Edna) Belter: all of Troy, Missouri, Jerome Belter: Cornell, Illinois, and Neal (Audrey) Belter: Rock Hill, South Carolina; eight grandchildren: Shannon Tate, Michael and Sarah Hillebrand, Justin, Kati, Gregory, Allison and Andrew Belter; three great-grandchildren: Liam and Ryan Tate, and Braden Hillebrand; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bill and John Belter and a sister at birth.

Visitation will be from 2-9:00 P.M. Wednesday at Roller Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6-8:00 P.M. A Vigil Service will be at 7:00 P.M. in the Roller Chapel with Deacon Richard Linstad officiating. The Funeral Mass will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church with Reverend James Fanrak as celebrant. Entombment will be in Baxter Memorial Gardens with military honors by the Alley-White American Legion Post #52. Family members will be pallbearers. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
