The Rev. Silvanus Minton, b. Aug. 27, 1791, 96 District (Union District), SC. D. Nov. 10, 1880 in Hazen, Prairie County, AR. He also has a headstone in Cherokee County, AL erected by descendents who thought he was buried in an unmarked grave there. Silvanus founded at least two Baptist churches, one in Cherokee County, AL and the other in Prairie County, AR. He was married twice (1st Mary Morris, 2nd Virginia Jane Quails). He fathered at least 18 children. He lived and preached for a time in the Old Pendleton District (Anderson County), SC before moving to Alabama.
