Son of Hiram Houston "Huse" Melton & Virgie Evelyn O'Neal Melton.
Married Nola Marie Ellis, December 24, 1935, Franklin, Izard County, Arkansas.

Almie Harl Melton of Melbourne, son of the late Huse and Virgie Evelyn O'Neal Melton, was born April 20, 1917 in Lunenburg. He died April 28, 2001 in Melbourne. He was 84.

Mr. Melton was united in marriage to Nola Marie Ellis, December 24, 1935 in Franklin. To this union three sons were born. Between 1945 and 1946, he served in the United States Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Private First Class. During his working years he did many things. He was a farmer, a mailman, and an insurance salesman. He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church and a deacon since 1955.

Survivors include his wife, Nola Melton of Melbourne, one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Etta Melton of Searcy; two sisters, Lela Runion of Melbourne and Jean Campbell of Wichita, Kansas; two grandchildren, Dr. Chris Melton and wife Suzanne of Little Rock and Isaac Melton of Searcy; one great-grandchild, Brooke Melton and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two sons, Donald Ellis Melton and Roger Harl Melton, one sister, Betty Gordon, and his parents.

Funeral services were held May 1, 2001 at Zion Hill Baptist Church with Richard Nuckolls and Gene Baird officiating. Pallbearers were Bob Haley, Jim Haley, Michael Ellis, J. W. Moser, Robert Fudge and Wilton Thompkins.

Interment was at Violet Hill Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home of Melbourne.

Memorials may be made to Zion Hill Baptist Church or Zion Volunteer Fire Department.
