She was the daughter of Reuben and Sarah Stroud Arnold. She and James Waid were the parents of eight children.

Margaret Ann 'Peggy' Lackey, 72, widow of James W. 'Jim' Lackey, died Saturday, February 24, 1923. She was born near Moccassin Creek to Reuben and Sarah 'Sally' Stroud Arnold on October 15, 1850.
She married James Waid 'Jim' Lackey on October 20, 1870 and they lived near Iuka. They were the parents of ten children, seven of who survive.
Mrs. Lackey is survived by two sons, George Lackey of Mt. View, Arkansas and Dan Lackey of Keifer, Oklahoma; five daughters, Pairlee Whitfield of Keifer, Oklahoma, Annie Killian of Iuka, Ellen Dillard of Calico Rock, Emma Killian of Iuka and Angie Moody of Calico Rock; 33 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Dr. Robert Lee Lackey and William P. Lackey; one daughter Mary Jane Lackey; two grandsons, Porter Whitfield and Roe Whitfield and one granddaughter, Annis Lackey Cunningham.
Mrs. Lackey was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Chruch, South.
Funeral services were conducted at Galatia Chruch near Norfork. She was buried beside her husband at the Galatia Cemetery.
