Marvin E. Gaston Jr. of Fort Smith died Saturday, July 21, 2007, at Sparks Hospital. He was 78 years old and was born March 6, 1929, in Subiaco. He was a retired coal miner and construction worker. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of VFW Post 15004 of Charleston. Marvin and his wife, Shirley, are longtime residents of Fort Smith, where she is employed by John Prybysz Accounting Firm. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin E. Gaston Sr., his mother, Cora (Hill) Gaston, and a brother, Dwain Pennington.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris with burial with military honors at Oakwood Cemetery in Paris under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris. Online guestbook www.rollerfuneralhomes.com.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Gaston of Fort Smith; a daughter, Diana Martin of McKinney, Texas; a son, Lee Didway of Dallas; a sister, Pat Lee of Caulksville; a brother, Woody Pennington of Paris; two grandchildren, Keven Sticher of Wylie, Texas, and Courtney Lincks of McKinney, Texas; a great-grandchild, Mason Sticher of Wylie; two stepgrandchildren, Rick Martin and Chris Martin of Dallas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Keven Sticher, Mark McGinness, David Raible, Rick Martin, Bob Raible, Scott Lee and Brandon Lee.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Thomas, Joe Walker and Jim Martin.
