Funeral rites for Herschel W. CLARK, 59, were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Luginbuel Funeral Chapel at Lincoln, Ark. The obituary was read by Jimmie SMITH of Prairie Grove, Ark. Music was several violin numbers. Burial was in Ganderville Cemetery, near Summers, Ark.

Mr. CLARK was born December 2, 1903, in Grundy County, Mo., the son of Frank and Minnie CLARK and died at his home in Westville Monday night, following a long illness.

He started in the grocery business in Oregon, when only 19 years of age, later going to Porterville, Calif., where he manufactured and repaired violins.

A talented musician, he won many musical contests, and participated in a number of National Folk Lore programs.

In 1923, he and Miss Ellen MCDONALD of Lincoln, Ark., were married at Jay, Okla.

They immediately established the Jewelry and Watch Repair business as well as a shoe shop in Lincoln. In 1937, they moved to Prairie Grove, Ark., and continued in the Jewelry and Watch Repair business until 1954 when they turned that store to their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald REINOLD. They came to Westville during the year 1954 and established their Jewelry business, including a watch repair department.

Mr. CLARK was interested in training young men in the watch repair business, a number of whom are now in business for themselves.

Survivors are his wife, Ellen of the home; one son, Herschel CLARK, Jr., and one daughter, Mrs. Ronald REINOLD, both of Prairie Grove; a sister, Mrs. Allie WHITTENBURG of Lincoln, and four grandchildren.

Out of town relatives who attended the funeral were: Detmar CUMMINGS, Texarkana, Texas, Mrs. Charles MCDONALD, Fort Smith, Ark.; Rev. Charles MCDONALD, DeWitt, Ark.; Mr. and Mrs. James MCDONALD and Mrs. Alice HAMPTON Fayetteville, Ark.
