Gilbert Reece Bray

Gilbert Reece Bray, 82, of Mount Pleasant, Ark., died Feb. 23, 2004, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.

Born Oct. 8, 1921, he was the son of Marshel Alvis and Vera Ethel McSpadden Bray. He was a farmer, served as a medical technician in the U.S. Army during World War II, served on the Sharp Nursing Home Board for many years and was a member of Barron Fork Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Mount Pleasant.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law - Randy and Leshia Bray of Mount Pleasant, and Marshel and Jean Ann Bray of Batesville; a daughter and son-in-law - Marilyn and Richard Downing of Evening Shade; three brothers - Reed "Slick" Bray, Lucius Bray, and Paul Alvis Bray, all of Mount Pleasant; three sisters - Veola Claxton, Beth Ann Edwards, and Joyce Mynatt, all of Mount Pleasant; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Alice Hightower Bray; a brother, Coy Lee Bray; and a sister, Leola Webb.

The funeral was Feb. 25 at Barron Fork Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Mount Pleasant with Tom Wilkins and Brent Ballow officiating. Burial followed in Barron Fork Cemetery located a Mount Pleasant. Arrangements were by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.

Pallbearers were Russell Downing, Nicholas Bray, Deter Boswell, Ryan Bray, Jim Ed Cole, Eugene Skelton, Randy Smith and Barry Bray.
