Rayburn Cantwell, 84, of Norfork passed away Friday, Sep 17, 2004, at Calico Rock. He was born Oct 18, 1919, at Arkana to Jeston and Lona Cantwell. He married Pauline Buckner Dec 31, 1946, in Flippin.
Mr. Cantwell is survived by one sister, Juanita Carrico of Calico Rock; two grandsons, Jerry and William (Cantwell) Baze; three great grandchildren, Kevin, Kara and Mercedes Baze; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; only son, Bill; and one sister, Inez Pitre of Santa Fe, Texas.
Rayburn attended Norfork School before he enlisted in the Army in 1939, spending all of WWII in the European theater as a ground aircraft mechanic. He later worked 25 years for Fleming Foods in Wichita, KS, before returning to Arkansas to farm until ill health forced final retirement. He attended Lone Rock Baptist Church.
Services were Sunday at Old Galatia Church with Brother Doug Huskey officiating. Visitation was one hour before the 2PM service, with burial in Galatia Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lynn Rand, Bill Adams, Tim Shaver, Larry Hoffman, Bernis Self and George Salo.
Arrangements were by Roller Funeral Home.
