Charles J. Rusgis, Sr. of Henderson died Wednesday (Aug. 2, 1995) at Care Manor Nursing Home in Mountain Home. He was 88.
Mr. Rusgis was born June 26, 1907 at Bunson, Ind., to Casimir J. and Mary Sepavich Rusgis. He moved to Henderson in 1952 and owned and operated Chuck’s Trading Post.
Mr. Rusgis also was Henderson Postmaster from 1953 until 1973, was past president of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce, long-time member of the Henderson Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Baxter County Library board of directors, a member of the White River Fly-fishers Club and a member of Lake Norfork Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and his wife, Stephanie G. Rusgis in 1989.
Mr. Rusgis is survived by one son, Charles J. Rusgis, Jr. of Alexander; one daughter, Tira R. Schmidt of Mountain Home; two sisters, Ann Fisher of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Helen Decherrie of Chicago, Ill.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Kirby Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Custer-Herron Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Baxter County Library.
