(No obituary has been located for Gordon Elmer Acklin. This obituary was constructed from inforamation from genealogical research by Emmit Dolan Acklin. As an added postscript, at the time of Gordon Elmer Acklin's death, he did not have any children, however a daughter was born after his death.)
Gordon Elmer Acklin, 34, died Thursday, May 19, 1949, in a Little Rock, Arkansas hospital.
The Shady Grove resident was born at McPherson on February 14, 1915, to William and Rebecca Alexander Acklin.
He is survived by his wife, the former Melva Lea Harris of the home; his parents of Shady Grove; four sisters, Evah Greer of Hopewell, Lula Mae Wynn of Mt. Home, Adah Harris of Mt. Home and Grace Lawson of Shady Grove; and one brother, Noble Acklin of Colfax.
Mr. Acklin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Theodore and Frances Shepard Acklin and William and Elizabeth Freeman Alexander.
Funeral services were held in the Galatia Church with Rev. Walter Hutson, pastor of the Galatia Assemby of God Church, officiating. Burial was in the Galatia Cemetery near Norfork.
