LINCOLN - Edward W. Pershall, 82, of Lincoln died Oct. 3, 2004, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born May 18, 1922, in Evansville to John and Caroline "Carrie" Pershall.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in campaigns in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, France and Germany. He was awarded two Purple Hearts, one Oak Leaf Cluster, seven Bronze Stars, the Croix de Guerre with Palm from France, a Distinguished Unit Badge, a Good Conduct Medal and, in 1999, he received the Jubilee of Liberty Medal from France. He was recently honored as Grand Marshall at the Lincoln Apple Festival parade. He was a longtime member of the American Legion Beatty Bibb 171 and the VFW 4675 and the Lincoln Senior Center.

He was preceded in death by one stepson, Dennis Byars.

Survivors include one daughter, Dena Dodd of Prairie Grove; one stepson, Don Byars of Lincoln; two brothers, Sammie Pershall of Prairie Grove and Richard Pershall of Evansville; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove with Jack Thompson officiating.

Burial will be in Lewis Cemetery at Evansville. Military honors will be conducted by the Northwest Arkansas Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may to made to the Lincoln Senior Center.
