Wendell R. Kimbrough

Wendell R. Kimbrough, 83, of Des Arc, formerly of Pocahontas and Alicia, died Dec. 5, 2010, at Des Arc Nursing and Rehab.

Born June 6, 1927, near Alicia, he was the son of W.W. and Mertie Claxton Kimbrough. He had farmed and was a former postmaster at Alicia, Pocahontas and Jonesboro. He was active in the National League of Postmasters in Washington, D.C., as National Officer and also served on various assignments in the St. Louis Regional Office, the Southern Regional Office and the Memphis District.

Following retirement from the Postal Service, he was named the executive director of the Randolph County Chamber of Commerce. He was named by Gov. Mike Huckabee to a Child Placement Board for the State of Arkansas. He was associated with The Lord's Ranch as an administrator, and the Veterans Administration of Randolph County Veterans Service Office. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, attended Harding College and served as an instructor for the Postal Service in the Southern Region.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Merle Cole.

Survivors include his wife, Erma Norris Kimbrough; two daughters, Debbie Kimbrough Hughes and husband Phil, Norman, Okla., and Terri Lyn Ratcliff, Little Rock; four grandsons, Patrick, Barett, Chris and Jeff; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Bryan Funeral Home with Tim Wooldridge and Steve Norris officiating. Burial will be in Strangers Home Cemetery. Military honors will be provided at graveside by the Promberger-Traw VFW Post #4556 of Pocahontas.

Visitation is Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Children's Home in Paragould.

Erma Lee “Couse” Kimbrough, 87 of Benton, died September 5, 2017 in the Alcoa Pines Health and Rehabilitation in Benton.

Born March 14, 1930 in Swifton; daughter of Clarence Edward and Lilly Mae Couch Norris. She was united in marriage to Wendell Kimbrough in December of 1948. She was a homemaker, loving mother and of the Church of Christ faith.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wendell in 2010; six brothers, Clarence, Noel Gene, Joe, Shelby, Charles and an infant Alfred Norris; two sisters, Verniece Norris Abbott and an infant Alma Norris.

Survivors include two daughters, Debbie (Phil) Hughes of Norman, OK and Terri Ratcliff of East End; four grandsons, Patrick and Barett Ratcliff both of East End, Chris Hughes of Norman, OK and Jeff Hughes of Dallas, TX; one great granddaughter, Kaydence Ratcliff of East End; two brothers, Hubert and Bobby Norris both of Swifton; two sisters, Shirley Lemay of Bono and Joyce Tims of Jonesboro.

Funeral Service will be Saturday September 9, 2017 at 11 A.M. in the Bryan Chapel with Steven Norris officiating. Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers. Interment will follow in the Strangers Home Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 A.M. till 11 A.M. in the Bryan Funeral Home.
