Funeral services for Ora E. "Doc" House, 88, of Walnut Ridge, who died Friday at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, will be Monday afternoon at 2 at House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge. Don R. House and Gene Shocklee will officiate. Burial will follow at Strangers Home Cemetery near Alicia.

Active pallbearers will be Noel Baker, J.Q. Harvey, Larry Nicholson, Kendell Snedeker, Jack House, Mark House, Matt House, Jim Ed House, Jordan House and Ethan Sheffield. Honorary pallbearers will include Earl Owens, Dale Hancock, Buford Coker and Brooks Penn.

Born at Hutchinson, he farmed at Alicia for many years. He had lived in Walnut Ridge for the past 15 years. He was a retired supervisor of the Arkansas Boys Training School at Pine Bluff. He later served as chief of police at Swifton. He was a former constable in Jackson and Lawrence counties and was a former elder of the Alicia Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Shell House of the home; one daughter, Freda House of Walnut Ridge; three sons, Edward House of Swifton, James House of Searcy and Don House of Walnut Ridge; three brothers, Etheredge B. House of Jonesboro, Fred House and Wayne House both of Little Rock; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be this afternoon from 5 until 8 this evening at the funeral home.

WALNUT RIDGE — Lois Shell House, 86, of Walnut Ridge died Tuesday, June 11, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Swifton, she had lived in Alicia and Swifton before moving to Walnut Ridge 18 years ago. She was a homemaker and retired from the Arkansas Boys Training School.

Survivors include a daughter, Freda House of Walnut Ridge; three sons, Edward L. House of Swifton, James B. House of Searcy and Don R. House of Walnut Ridge; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ora E. House; her parents, E.B. and Augusta Stevens Shell; a daughter; a sister; a brother; and a granddaughter.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of House-Gregg Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge. Burial will follow in Strangers Home Cemetery near Alicia.

Pallbearers will be Mark House, Matthew House, Jim Ed House, Jordan House, Jack House, Glynn Smith, Ethan Sheffield and Kendell Snedeker.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be sent to the Paragould Children's Home, 5515 Old Walcott Road, Paragould 72450-9983.
