Rogers Democrat

WEAVER, Josie - It was a sad surprise to the citizens of Rogers when on Tuesday afternoon the death of Miss Josie Weaver, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Weaver of this city, became generally known. Miss Weaver was taken ill with typhoid fever about four weeks ago but her condition was not considered serious until Sunday and then it was only known by a few of the most intimate family friends. The death occurred at 2 p.m. The funeral services were held at at the M.E. church, South on yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock and were conducted by Rev. W.B. Johnsey. A large number of friends were present to pay their last sad respects to the deceased. The remains were interred in the city cemetery. Miss Josie Weaver was born at Cleburne, Texas November 8, 1871, being at the time of her death 27 years and 21 days of age. She afterwards resided with her parents in California and Missouri, coming to Rogers in 1890. Since that time she had either made her home here or at their farm near Garfield. She attended the Galloway college at Searcy for several years, graduating in 1893. She then taught private school for one year and then went to Frankling college at Ozark where she taught two years. Her life, though a short one, had always been a busy one. Her chief interest however was centered in her work in the M.E. church, South of which she has been a faithful member for many years. She was organist of the local church here and took an active part in all the work carried on. Her Christian faith and her splendid example will not lose its power for many years but her absence will be a great loss to her relatives and associates. She was a general favorite socially among the young people of the city. The entire community unite in extending their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
