BANKS, Minnie R. NICHOLS - Mrs. Minnie R. Banks, wife of J. Houston Banks, died at the family home one mile north of Hiwasse Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 8, 1932 following an illness of some time. For the past two months Mrs. Banks has been confined to her bed. While she had not suffered a stroke of paralysis her limbs had been paralyzed several weeks. Funeral services were held at the Christian Church at Hiwasse on last Thursday afternoon. The services were largely attended. Burial was made in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery. Mrs. Banks was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Nichols, early settlers of the Hiwasse community and was born there in 1892 and moved with her parents later to Chanute, Kansas. She was married there Feb. 22, 1912 to J.H. Banks, member of another old Hiwasse family. Besides her husband she is survived by five children, Miss Diane Banks of Chanute, Kans., Duane, Clifton, Hollis and Jack of the home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Nichols of Iola, Kans. and by a brother, Edwin Nichols of Kansas City.

Mrs. Houston Banks, age about 40 years, died yesterday morning at her home northeast of Hiwasse after an illness of several months. Funeral services were held at the Christian Church this afternoon with burial in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery. She is survived by her husband and four children. Mrs. Ernest Alfrey of this city is a sister-in-law of Mrs. Banks.
