George V. Cowart, age 88, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, died Tuesday, April 13, 2009, at St. John’s Regional Health Center in Springfield, Missouri.

Visitation will be from Noon-9:00 P.M. Wednesday with the family receiving friends from 6-9:00 P.M. at Roller Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the Mountain Home Church of Christ at College and North Streets with Brother Bill McFarland officiating. Interment with military honors by the U.S. Army and Ozark V.F.W. Post #3246 will be at East Oakland Cemetery.

He was born February 13, 1921, at Clarkridge, Arkansas, to Clint and Ethel Fitzpatrick Cowart. Mr. Cowart was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, a member of the Mountain Home Church of Christ and was a retired construction worker. He owned the “Sportsman’s Shop” near the Mountain Home Square in the 1960’s. He was very devoted to his family, enjoyed gospel and country music, along with fishing, hunting and farming.

Survivors are: his wife: Francelene Uchtman Baxter Cowart: of the home; two sons: Dale (Eden) Cowart: Mountain Home; and David (Terri) Cowart: Garland, Texas; two stepsons: Doug (Sandy) Baxter: Clarkridge; and Danny (Christina) Baxter: West Plains, Missouri; two stepdaughters: Denise (Scott) Clifton: Rogers, Arkansas; and Angela (Mike) Tinsley: Jonesboro, Arkansas; two sisters: Joyce Thompson: Flippin; and Mary Killian: Harrison; two grandchildren: Coleson and Aubrey Cowart; eight step-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife: Ida Eileen Henderson Cowart; four brothers and three sisters.
