Leona Sarah Rutherford was the daughter of Archibald and Sarah Holcomb Rutherford. She was likely born in the southern portion of Washington Co near West Fork. After her father died around 1866-69, the family moved into the southern area near Fayetteville. She remain there until near 1880 when she was working in Fayetteville. At the same time, Marion Frank Hinkle, lived with the Sarah Rutherford family and worked on the farm. He and Leona married 09 Sept 1880 and settled in the Hinkle Mountain area, aka "Dead Horse Mountain". The old log house that they built was gone by the time I was born. Only the old stone chimmey of the fireplace remained. It sat near the most southern green of the now Stonebridge Meadows Golf Course. Great-Grandfather Marion built a newer home closer to Dead Horse Mountain Road around 1900. This home later became the home of Walter Edward and Artie Tunstill Hinkle, my paternal Grandparents.

Family traditon says that Marion was born at Terre Haute, Vigo Co, Indiana. Philip and Amanda Barr Hinkle, who were his parents, lived in Daviess Co., Indiana, per census records. James and Catherine Barr, Amanda's parents, lived in Gibson Co, Indiana in 1860. We are not sure whether Marion was actually born in Terre Haute or just lived there before coming to Arkansas before 1880. His grandparents were Anthony J and Catharine Avey Killian Henkle (Hinkle). They were buried in the Cornettsville Cemetery, Daviess Co, Indiana.
