HORTON, Susan – Mrs. J.F. Horton was born in 1864 and died at her home northwest of Lowell on Thursday, March 31st. She leaves her husband, Uncle Joe Horton, two children and one grandson to mourn her departure. She was converted when a young girl but never joined any church. She bore her illness with great patience and told the writer several months ago that she was willing to go. She was a good woman and will be missed by all her neighbors. L.L. Johnson

HORTON, Joel F. - Joel F. Horton died at the home of his son, Tom L. Horton, at Southwest City, Mo. June 22 at the age of eighty—one years, six months and four days. He leaves to mourn his death seven children, twenty—two grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. The children are John F. Horton of Fort Worth, Texas; Tom L. Horton of Southwest City, Mo.; William J. Horton of San Francisco; Sarah A. Hopkins of Hempstead, Tex.; George W. Horton of Southwest City; Elizabeth C. Brown of Granby, Mo.; and James I. Horton of Joplin. All of the children were present but two, William J. and Mrs. Hopkins. He professed faith in Christ when a young man and united with the Missionary Baptist church of Lowell, Ark. and was always faithful to the end. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A.A. DuLaney of Rogers and burial was in the Rogers cemetery. Most of his life was spent in Benton county in and near Lowell.
