The many dear friends of Mrs. Bridget Garrity will be grieved to learn of her death which took place on Sunday, October 21, 1906 at her home near Brightwater. Her remains were interred at Rogers cemetery on the following Tuesday in the presence of the sorrowing members of her family and friends. The funeral services were conducted by Reverend Bandini of Tontitown. Mrs. Garrity, formerly Bridget Boyle, was born August 27, 1836 in County Galway, Ireland. She spent her childhood years in her sunny home amid the verdant fields and purple mountains of the "Emerald Isle." Leaving there at the early age of sixteen she cast her lot neath the "Stars and Stripes," and like many of her race was fortunate in meeting with success in the land of her adoption. She married John Garrity on July 15, 1864 at Richmond, Virginia, to whom she proved a devoted wife and loving mother to the four daughters and two sons who survive to mourn the loss of one whose place cannot be filled. From Richmond Mrs. Garrity moved to Baltimore, Maryland and from thence to Cincinnati, Ohio, moving to Arkansas in the year 1883, locating on a farm near Brightwater in 1885 and lived there until called to a brighter and happier home. She was a devoted and faithful member of the Catholic Church and took a deep interest in everything concerning its welfare. Her religion was her greatest pride and her exemplary life was a source of edification to all who came in contact with her. From her noble and generous heart she always gave with a lavish hand as can be testified by those who now realize that they have lost a true friend. To her sorrowing husband, sons, daughters and grandchildren we tender our deepest sympathy and condolence in their sad bereavement.
