Mrs. Eleanor Biggers, age 87 of Mountain Home passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at her home. Eleanor Ellen Biggers was born August 12, 1920 in Bostwick, NE to the late Arthur and Lydia Mae (Devitt) Lawson. They moved to the area in 1937. Eleanor married Alvin Leonard Biggers on September 9, 1944 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

To this union, 4 children were born, 3 of whom survive: Nancy Ellen (Larry) Cravens of Lebanon, MO, James (Vida) Biggers, and Ida Mae Cowart, all of Mountain Home. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren, 4 step great-grandchildren, a sister: Alberta Karchesky of Springdale, AR, a sister-in-law Margaret Lawson of Mountain Home, several nieces, nephews and host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Alvin on March 26, 1999, a son, Roy Dean Biggers, a brother, Alden Lawson, and a brother-in-law, Mike Karchesky.

Eleanor professed her faith in Christ at an early age and was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church. She was church pianist for many years, and also taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School classes. She attended church as long as her health permitted. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Eleanor liked being outdoors tending her flowers and vegetable garden and watching birds at the feeders. While her children were growing up, she supported them faithfully as they participated in their various school and extra-curricular activities.

Visitation for Mrs. Biggers will be Noon – 9 PM Friday at Roller Funeral Home with the family receiving friends 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be 10 AM Saturday in the Roller Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jimmie Snow officiating. Burial will be in East Oakland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to East Oakland Cemetery, Hospice of the Ozarks, or Fairview United Methodist Church.
