The Baxter Bulletin, Mountain Home, Arkansas, June 19, 1969:
Mrs. Effie Napier of Route 9, Mountain Home died Sunday at her home. She was the mother of Mrs. Sadie Young, with whom she made her home. She was a widow and a native Arkansan.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Carra head of Mountain Home, 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Napier was born at Cushing on December 6, 1881, the daughter of Jim and Ellen Copeland Pierson. She was married to Cyrus Napier, who died on March 12, 1933. She was a member of the Baptist Church.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. J. F. Duncan officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. The McClure Service is in charge of arrangements.
(Note in regard to birth information: Gravestone has birth date inscribed as 1881; however, the Social Security Death Index and other sources give a birth date of December 6, 1882. The obituary indicates that she was born at Cushing. That might be a misprint and might should be Cushman.)
(Note: Baxter County Marriage records shows that Cyrus Napier, age 23, married Effie Howard, age 15, on December 6, 1896. His obituary indicates that he married Effie Jones on December 6, 1896. The obituary for Effie Napier states that she was the daughter of Jim and Ellen Copeland Pierson.)
