Thomas J. Bowen, 80, of Sherwood died Tuesday November 18, 2008 at Arkansas Hospice in Little Rock. He was born October 19, 1928 in Calhoun County. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Sherwood and was a retired railroad clerk for Missouri Pacific and was an active member of the Rock Island Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Emma Evans Bowen, six sisters, Gladys Misenheimer, Ollie Strickland, Beatrice Strickland, Ila Mae Strickland, Myrtle Craig and Mamie Manning; two brothers, Charles Junior Bowen and A. J. Bowen. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lynn Bowen of Sherwood; one daughter, Tammy Roberson of North Little Rock; one sister, Florene Tyler of Benton; four grandchildren, Rachel Fleming of Duluth, MN, Ashley Bowen of Collierville, TN, Ciara Bowen and Laina Bowen both of Sherwood; one great-grandchild, Weston Bowen of Collierville, TN. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Victory Baptist School 10000 Brockington Sherwood, AR 72120 or Arkansas Hospice 5600 West 12th Street Little Rock, AR 72204. Visitation will be 10:00 am Thursday at Victory Baptist Church in Sherwood with funeral services following at 11:00 am with Rev. Robert Harris and Rev. Freddy Bowen officiating. Graveside services will be 3:00 pm Thursday at Means Cemetery near Hampton. Arrangements by Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce.
