Jewell Mildred Boyd, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House. She is survived by two daughters, Eyvonne Owens (Lowell) of Springdale, AR and Norma Gloer (Ed) of Lowell, AR; daughter-in-law: Sharon Boyd Sanders (Ben) of Mountain Home; seven granddaughters, four great granddaughters and five great grandsons. One sister, Vivian Galagos of Aurora, CO, many nieces and nephews and her “adopted son and daughter” Blake and Annette McGuire. She was preceded in death by her husband Leon; son Douglas; grandson Wendell Owens, her parents, two sisters and three brothers.
Mrs. Boyd was born at Etowah, AR to Homer and Myrtle (Butler) Brannon on February 24, 1917. She married Leon M. Boyd on December 15, 1934 at Osceola, AR. Mrs. Boyd had lived in the Norfork and Mountain Home areas for 62 years. She was a charter member of the Emmanuel Church and very active in the Hospital Ministry Program. After her retirement from Baxter Laboratories, she enjoyed camping with the grandchildren, traveling, tending her beautiful flower gardens and having family gatherings.
